Light Types: What's the Difference?

You can create two types of lights in a scene: directional lights and point lights

Directional lights are the simplest type of light. They have a location in the scene, indicated by a light icon, and a direction. Point lights, as the diagram shows, radiate light equally in all directions from a given location.

Each of these lights has a color, an intensity, and an ambient intensity. Point lights also have a direction and a radius, which indicates how far an object can be from the light and still be lit.
