This revision of the Trusted IRIX/CMW Security Administration Guide supports the Trusted IRIX/CMW operating system as of release 6.5.13.
The following major changes were made to this guide since the last revision:
Revised trusted technology terms referenced throughout this document. Trusted Computing Base (TCB) is now Target of Evaluation (TOE). U.S. National Computer Security Center (NCSC) is now National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). Trusted Computer System Evaluation Criteria (TCSEC) is now Labelled Security Protection Profile (LSPP). References to levels of B1, A1, and so forth have been replaced by Common Criteria (International Standard ISO IS 15408) for selecting and defining security requirements.
Changed filename from /etc/label/labelname to /etc/mac in section “Deleting a Label” in Chapter 5, “Administering Access Control”.
Added a new section, “xfsdump and xfsrestore Under Trusted IRIX/CMW” to Chapter 9, “Administering Printing and Tape Devices”. This section describes how to use the xfsdump and xfsrestore commands to back up and restore directories and files from storage media, regular files, or standard output on a Trusted IRIX/CMW system.
Revised information on use of newlabel -F command in example of configuring a parallel printer in Chapter 9, “Administering Printing and Tape Devices”.
Changed the number of categories that can be transmitted from 0-63 to 1-239 in the categorynames definition in Table 5-3 in Chapter 5, “Administering Access Control”.
Added a new section, “Using Cpusets with Trusted IRIX” in Chapter 2 to Chapter 2, “Planning Your Trusted IRIX/CMW System”.
